Dear Parent,
Our kids need their emotional goodness buckets filled up way more than we would ever think necessary.
Why be stingy? Why hold back?
Oh, you don’t want your kids to get big heads because they already think they know everything? Right. I get it, but that is a thinking error. It is precisely because our children have a bucket of emptiness in each hand and massive bags of badness on their backs that they hold on to the grandiosity of knowing everything.
When one is always right, one is never wrong. Being wrong is emotionally deadly for a child who thinks s/he has already been given up on by a bio-parent or two. It follows then that many children from difficult beginnings think they are unloveable, unworthy, unwanted, and plain bad to the core.
Fill those buckets people. Your children depend on it.
Love matters,
Ce
